Ink adhesion depends on the substrate and surface condition. Identify the material, coating and handling environment before selecting an ink or expecting a durable code.
Provide the code content, position, required character height and the way the package is presented. A handheld printer listing is not proof of compatibility with every plastic or coating.
| Selection area | What to compare | What to provide |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | Substrate, coating and condition | Actual area to be marked |
| Message | Text, characters and position | Print artwork and character height |
| Handling | What happens after marking | Expected contact, rubbing and storage |
A code on a primary container and a code on a dispatch carton can involve different surfaces and presentation. Provide artwork for the actual package and show where printing sits in the handling sequence.
